Charity Boat Race 2019
On July 6 2019, our talented team tried their hands at something a little different. For the second year running, we took part in the Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield.
We rowed our socks off in aid of our chosen charity, Martin House Hospice, who provide family-led care for children with life shortening conditions. We’re delighted to have raised £155 so far, but we’ve still got a way to go to hit target. If you’d like to make a donation, you can do so here.
Our day by the lake was as brilliant as expected. The team got into the spirit of things by donning pirate outfits… Blinds Ahoy! Although we didn’t win, we had a great time soaking up the sights and sounds, along with enjoying a delicious barbecue with all our friends and families. There’s always a wonderful festival atmosphere at the Dragon Boat Challenge which draws us back year after year.
Here are some of our snapshots of the day…
“Our Pirates had another great year at the annual Pugneys boat race. Although we only placed 20th out of 27 teams, we were so happy to have worked together and bonded as colleagues while also managing to raise three figures for such a valuable cause. Bring on next year… Arrrrrr!”
– Lewis Ramsden, Multimedia Marketing at Blinds Direct.
Thank you to everyone that took part in the boat race, popped by to say hello and also donated to our charity page. We can’t wait to do it again next year!
