We’re delighted to introduce the next interior design superstar in our Real Homes series, Danielle from @daniellelouisedoughty.

We adore Danielle’s interior style: an eclectic mix of Bohemian, Scandinavian and modern rustic, featuring pampas grasses, gallery walls and plenty of greenery… and a cute pup thrown in for good measure! Danielle has the distinct ability to blend textures, colours and prints to achieve beautifully boho results. We chatted to her about her unique style, where she finds inspiration, and her next big plans for her home…

How would you describe your interior style?

I’d say my design style is a bit of a mix of everything. Eclectic is probably the best word for it, but basically, if I see something I like, I try to incorporate it into my home and make it flow.

What was your first project in your current house?

It’s hard to talk about our first design task, as we started over 12 years ago! We built our house from a bungalow into a three story home. If I could go back, I would change lots of the design process, though.

What was the most exciting or challenging part of doing up your home?

Recently we redecorated our hall. I am so pleased with how it turned out, with spotted wallpaper on one wall and a half painted wall on the other.

Where do you find inspiration?

I love Instagram for inspiration, but Pinterest is invaluable for creating mood boards and collections of favourite ideas.

Where do you shop for homeware?

I think Hennes have come such a long way with their homewares recently; I could buy the whole shop.

What are your next plans for your home?

I would love to renovate our bathroom, but it’s a big job and very expensive, so maybe will have to go on hold for a while.

How do you choose your window treatments?

For window coverings, number one it has to be practical. Does it serve its purpose of shutting out light and providing privacy? Mechanically, is it smooth and will it last? Aesthetics are also important and the colours and pattern have to blend with the overall look of the room.

If you had £10,000 to spend on interior design, what would it be and why?

Definitely £10,000 would be spent on building an outdoor pergola. There are some amazing ones on the web that show how outdoor living can be so stylish.

What are your top tips for someone planning on renovating their home?

If I were to advise anyone starting afresh, it would be plan and pin. Don’t rush, try to think of everything, read blogs, think it through and make sure you’re in love with every aspect of the design.

A great big thank you to Danielle for answering our questions. We are so pleased that she collaborated with Blinds Direct and chose the gorgeous Petal Pattern Vintage Ruby Roman blind from our Sonova Studio collection.
