How To Measure For Curtains

How To Measure For Curtains

Measuring a window for a new curtain is very easy to do and will take less time than you think.

Measuring The Width We advise you measure the curtain track or poles width, not the window. To measure for your curtain pole, all you'll need is a metal tape measure, a step ladder, and a notepad & pen. We advise that your curtain track or pole extends 15cm beyond both sides of your window recess, providing space for the curtains to be stacked neatly at each end. If you already have a curtain pole you love, simply measure the length between any decorative ends it may have.

Measuring The Drop The length of your curtains depends on your preference. These are typical length measurements.

A. Full length, measure to between 1.5 to 3cm above the floor level
B. Above the radiator, measure to between 1 to 3cm above the radiator.
C. Below the window sill, measure to around 15cm beneath the sill. For more information about measuring for curtains you can enjoy our Expert Guide: How To Measure For Curtains.

Once your curtain pole has been fitted in place, attaching the curtain is very simple. All you need do is affix them to the pole or - where necessary - the tracks.
